Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and the say you have over it — kept plainly, like everything else here.
Hobby Hub World ("we," "us," "our") is a small, Ontario-based hobby shop. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit hobbyhubworld.ca or place an order, how we use it, and the choices you have. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and only collect what we need to make and ship your order, and to run the shop well.
Information We Collect
We collect information directly from you, and a smaller amount automatically as you browse. Specifically:
- Order & account details — name, email, shipping and billing address, phone number, and order history, collected when you check out or create an account.
- Payment information — handled entirely by our payment processor (see Section 04). We never see or store your full card number.
- Correspondence — anything you send us through the contact form, email, or social media, including custom-order requests and the details you share for them.
- Device & usage data — IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referring site, collected automatically through cookies and standard server logs.
- Marketing preferences — your email address and consent status, if you choose to subscribe to updates.
How We Use It
We use your information only for purposes you'd reasonably expect from an online shop:
- Processing, fulfilling, and shipping your orders
- Responding to questions, custom-order requests, and support messages
- Sending order confirmations, shipping updates, and receipts
- Sending you marketing emails — only if you've opted in, and always with an unsubscribe link
- Detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, or technical issues on the site
- Understanding, in aggregate, how people use the site so we can improve it
We do not sell your personal information, and we don't use it for anything beyond running and improving Hobby Hub World.
Cookies & Tracking
Like most WordPress/WooCommerce stores, our site uses cookies and similar technologies for a few practical jobs:
- Essential cookies — keep items in your cart and keep you logged into your account. The site can't function without these.
- Analytics cookies — help us see, in aggregate, which pages get visited and how people move through the shop.
- Preference cookies — remember small choices, like a dismissed banner, between visits.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking essential cookies may stop the cart and checkout from working properly.
Who We Share With
We share only what each service needs to do its job. We currently work with:

Some of our products may also be listed on our Etsy shop. Orders placed through Etsy are subject to Etsy's own privacy policy in addition to this one. We only disclose personal information beyond the services above if required by law, such as in response to a valid legal request.
How Long We Keep It
We keep order records for as long as needed to fulfill orders, handle returns or warranty questions, and meet our tax and accounting obligations under Canadian law — generally a minimum of six years. Marketing email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Account information is kept until you ask us to delete it, subject to the retention needs above.
Your Rights
Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or outdated information
- Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time — every email includes an unsubscribe link
- Ask us to delete your account or personal information, subject to our legal record-keeping obligations
- Ask questions about how your information is collected, used, or shared

Keeping It Safe
We use industry-standard measures — including SSL encryption at checkout and secure, access-controlled hosting — to protect your information. Payment details are handled by our PCI-compliant payment processor and never touch our own servers in unencrypted form. That said, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
Hobby Hub World is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll remove it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we add a new tool or service to the shop. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review it occasionally.
